Freedom, Once Lost, is Lost Forever

Are we giving up freedom because of fear? I think so. America has been great because Americans have a can-do attitude and a pioneer spirit and willing to sacrifice. Today we are giving up freedoms that may never be restored. We are being told that we have no alternative but to embrace a large government takeover.

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.

John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775

Each step toward government encroachment upon our liberties is a step to freedom lost. I am concerned that our nation is receiving what it deserves in casting off principles in thought and action. Fear is being used to implement changes in our way of life. Freedom in the market place is being given up in fear of major catastrophes. This present government is capitalizing upon that fear to insert a socialist agenda.

Fear is the foundation of most governments; but it is so sordid and brutal a passion, and renders men in whose breasts it predominates so stupid and miserable, that Americans will not be likely to approve of any political institution, which is founded on it.

John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776

Unfortunately, John Adams was wrong about America. We are presently facing fears from within and fear of speaking out against such loss of liberties.

  1. We are giving up our freedom for the government to protect?

    Yes we are.

This is what happens when we deny our personal responsibility to defend ourselves, and let government pass laws to restrain us. We are then dependent upon government for our freedom and liberty.

I am surprised that the man that jumped the underwear bomber is not being charged with assault… but that day is yet to come, possibly even for him.

Freedom lost is paid for with the blood of our children.
